Therapy Services
Therapy is a process. We think of therapy similar to planning the ultimate road trip.
You tell your therapist your destination.
We get your car prepped & ready to go with all that it needs.
We hit the road together with you in the driver’s seat. Your therapist will be the passenger holding your map.
We deal with bad weather, bumpy roads, road closures, and find detours.
Once we get to your destination, we celebrate and then your therapist will hop out the car.
We all get stuck in life. It’s important to know that we don’t believe in long-term therapy. Therapy is just a place to come when you want some help to figure it out, make sense of your roadblocks, and learn new skills that will help you get through. It takes tremendous strength and courage to recognize a need and then be brave enough to do something about it.
We offer Individual & Family Therapy
Individual Therapy is going on that road trip just you and your therapist. Family Therapy is a space to resolve conflict, improve communication and foster healthy relationships. We start by meeting with family members individually before we come together. It’s sometimes necessary for family members to do some of their own individual work before family work can be successful. The most important factor is that each family member feel willing to participate. Forced therapy does not lead to positive outcomes. When someone isn’t open and feels forced into therapy it can destroy opportunities to be open to therapy later in life.
We start with an Intake.
This is typically one to three sessions where your therapist will learn as much as they can to better understand where you are and where you want to go. We use this time to learn about your past, present, and ideas for the future. This helps us create our map as we work together. You will only be asked to share information you feel comfortable sharing. The Intake is also your time to notice if your therapist feels like a good fit for you. Finding the right therapist is important and one the most important pieces to successful therapy.
After your intake you would start meeting your therapist once a week for 60 minute sessions. We start with weekly reducing our session frequency as you accomplish your goals. Eventually, we may go down to only meeting as needed, it if at all.
