Offering Individual & Couples/Family work
HI! I am Julissa and I am glad you are reading this! My goal as a therapist is to join you in your mission, to support you and empower you. My intention is to create a safe space, with a supportive, warm and calm presence. I am here for you!
Together, we work to make sense of past experiences, to explore current stressors, and to help you create your desired future. From an attachment perspective, I help you increase the quality of positive relationships with self and others.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I understand that therapy looks different for each individual, but it is important to me to welcome key factors into the therapy room: empowerment, inclusion, social justice, and intersectionality. One of my passions is to help people from historically marginalized populations.
I have practiced in inpatient and outpatient settings, with diverse populations. I primarily work with adults and couples. I specifically enjoy helping individuals heal from trauma experiences, manage depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions, and improve the quality of their relationships.
As an Army spouse of 15 years, I understand many of the issues impacting military families. In fact, it was my experiences as a hair stylist serving military families that encouraged me to pursue this profession. I have continued my professional journey serving veterans, active duty service members, and their families in many capacities.
A little more personal, I am a Panamanian attempting to brave the great Alaskan weather! I doubted I could, but I did survive my first winter in Alaska! Besides gaining essential winter survival skills, I prefer to spend my time surrounded with family and chosen family. I find space to enjoy all the things, from running and hiking, to exploring our wonderful world, to trying delicious foods, and enjoying a conversation.
